I'm sure you have all been wondering what wonderful and exciting things have been keeping me from the Internet in the past few months. Well, you're in luck, because I am about to reveal the secrets of my recent whereabouts!

Two quarters of suffering through drawing circles, cubes and still life are over, and we are finally moving on to drawing people. Hurrah! In preparation for this I spent my first weekend of spring break reevaluating my painting technique.

This project started as an attempt to get my acrylic skills up to the same standards as my oil, but I soon realized that my approach to each medium is so different that this probably is not possible. For one, I seem to have an extreme dislike for mixing up weird color palettes with acrylics - which is one of the defining characteristics of my oil paintings, I think. I almost never use realistic or literal colors with oils. My acrylic paintings also always seem to come out rather cartoonish and I certainly have difficulty achieving the same subtlety of form. I do like it for what it is though, and it certainly is a lot faster than oil painting. I'm not exactly sure how this will fit in with my university's expectations though.

I just wrote a really boring entry about how much I hate lecture classes, but I think I’ll refrain from posting it. To summarize:

Praise god for Wireless Internet! It’s my best friend. I don’t have to pay attention; I can download happy and exciting things instead.

Downloading Update: Yesterday I made up a playlist of all the music video files I’ve downloaded since… last Wednesday or so. I’m up to 37 - 16 of which are Dir en Grey videos. Watching through these, I kept thinking “Where did this come from? I don’t remember downloading this...” I'm becoming frightening addicted to this whole downloading concept. On Sunday, I decided that I would give it a rest for about a week or so, just so I would stop worrying and stop checking my progress every five minutes. Of course, this plan didn't work very well; I only lasted a day or two before I just had to download just one more thing - and then another, and another, and so forth until I'd near overrun my sissy 20 gig harddrive with mindless Stuff.

*sigh* Why can't I be satisfied with collecting something simple? Like stamps, perhaps. Or pokemon cards. No, no. I have to collect Dir en Grey videos and sell off portions of my soul to try and obtain them. They are quite wonderful though. I’ve watched so many of them recently that they’ve been taking over my dreams. It's rather frightening. Hurrah! LiveJournal works again! To celebrate, I'm posting another school update! (Yes, I'm boring. I don't do anything but go to school and lurk around online.)

That's what I did this weekend. Impressed? Well, you should be. Those are some high quality shapes right there. Yep, not just anyone could think up something as ingenius as that.
